BAIC DEBUTS BJ30 AND BJ60 AT JEDDAH MOTOR SHOW IN SAUDI ARABIA, MARKING A NEW ERA IN LIGHT OFF-ROAD VEHICLES
On October 29, 2024, the Jeddah Motor Show officially opened at the Jeddah Superdome Exhibition Center in Saudi Arabia. BAIC, in partnership with its Saudi distributor MGC, showcased a total of nine models, including the BJ30, BJ60, BJ40 PRO, and ALL NEW X7. The lineup featured off-road vehicles, SUVs, and sedans, encompassing both conventional fuel and hybrid models, demonstrating BAIC’s comprehensive product strength.
At the launch event, BAIC unveiled the BJ30 and BJ60 models along with their retail prices. In addition to these two new vehicles, the BJ40PRO and BJ60 hybrid versions were also on display, showcasing BAIC’s comprehensive capabilities in new energy vehicle manufacturing. According to sources, these two new models are expected to hit the market in the first quarter of 2025.
“Life prospect redefinition”
The BJ30 is BAIC’s flagship outdoor light off-road vehicle, measuring 4,730 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, and 1,790 mm in height, with an impressive wheelbase of 2,820 mm. These dimensions not only give the vehicle a commanding presence but also provide class-leading passenger space. Its distinctive five-hole grille design, protruding wheel arches, and roof-mounted metal luggage rack all highlight the BJ30’s off-road heritage. The clean rear design and two-tone body paint add a touch of modern style to this rugged SUV.
Beyond its impressive vehicle dimensions, a major highlight of this vehicle is its interior space. With the rear seats folded down, the cargo depth reaches 1,902 mm, creating a space as large as a bedroom that can accommodate a large air mattress and is perfect for family outdoor recreation.
The standard roof rack with a 300 kg load capacity makes the BJ30 well-equipped for outdoor adventures, whether mounting a rooftop tent or carrying various outdoor gear. The vehicle exudes a strong camping lifestyle vibe. Additionally, the BJ30 features power supply capabilities and comes with dedicated hooks for an interior projection screen, easily transforming into a mobile theater. It also includes a small folding table that serves both as a storage shelf and an outdoor camping table.
In terms of interior technology, the floating 14.6-inch central control display and 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster not only enhance the tech-savvy feel of the interior but also make driving information easily readable at a glance. The sophisticated electronic gear shifter delivers an aircraft cockpit-like experience.
The BJ30 comes in both fuel and hybrid powertrains, with the hybrid model featuring BAIC’s advanced Magic Core DHEV technology. The gasoline version is equipped with a 1.5T engine that delivers up to 187 horsepower and 305 N·m of torque, paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission for smooth and efficient driving performance.
The hybrid version takes power and efficiency to new heights, with the top-spec all-wheel-drive model generating an impressive combined output of 409 horsepower and 685 N·m of torque, achieving 0-60 mph acceleration in just 6.59 seconds that is comparable to a 3.0T gasoline engine. Additionally, the BJ30 demonstrates exceptional off-road capabilities with its class-leading 215 mm ground clearance and advanced intelligent ATS all-terrain control system, easily handling various challenging conditions, including sand, mud, and snow, making off-road adventures worry-free.
“luxury family off-road SUV”
The newly launched BJ60, a flagship off-road model from BAIC,
differs from the lighter outdoor-oriented BJ30. The BJ60
positions itself as a mid-to-large size “luxury family off-road SUV”.
Its exterior features a boxy front face, powerful contours, a backpack-style tailgate, and a high-strength body structure. Inside the cabin, it boasts an INFINITY sound system and library-quiet acoustics, along with 12-way adjustable front seats with a massage function. The overall design exudes luxury both inside and out.
As for hardware specifications, it comes equipped with a body-on-frame chassis, four-wheel independent suspension, power-operated side steps, Level 2 autonomous driving capabilities, ACC, HUD, and transparent chassis view technology. This highlights the vehicle’s more affordable price point.
The BJ60 is equipped with a 2.0T efficient engine coupled with a 48 V electric motor and an 8-speed automatic transmission, delivering robust power output of 266 horsepower and achieving a maximum climbing gradient of 100%.
The vehicle features BAIC’s self-developed ATS system working in conjunction with a transfer case, enabling 9 different modes and 17 driving combinations. With electronically controlled front and rear differential locks and a crawl mode, the BJ60 makes off-road adventures more effortless.
In addition to the two newly launched models, the BJ40 PRO and BJ60 hybrid versions were also showcased at the event. Although these two models weren’t extensively covered during the launch ceremony, the static display revealed impressive quality in terms of materials, craftsmanship, and specifications. Both models are reportedly scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2025. This comprehensive lineup of off-road vehicles demonstrates BAIC’s strong capabilities in the off-road vehicle segment.

Notably, in addition to launching these two new vehicles at the press conference, BAIC also officially announced its sponsorship of this year’s Gulf Cup of Nations.
